The Look I Like

One of the newest aspects of WoW that I really enjoy and very happy that they added to the game is that of Transmogrification. To breaks down what it is in the simplest manner of explanation is that a player can take certain gear such as weapons or armor and use that to change how ones weapon or armor looks, so that you could have say a certain weapon or armor set that you really enjoy and like the look of graphically to “wrap” over whatever your currently equipped weapon or armor is worn. Hence, rather than bring out your favorite sword that looks awesome but unfortunately the “stats” are no longer up to par for current content only for say role playing, you can now have your current weapon take on the look of that sword without losing the current stats that it inherently has.

What this allows is for a wide array of players to mix and match a wide range of gear, be it weapons and armor sets, shield, staffs, ect. There are quite a lot of posts on WoW forums (official and unofficial) where players are sharing what their ‘Transmog” look is for their character. I added a good site I came across that deals with different armor sets and gear for all classes within the Links section, so check out Icy Veins.

Here are two pics of Kernhoofs Transmog set…Enjoy!

Ava Got His Thunderfury!!!

My WoW in game buddy Ava finally got his much sought after Thunderfury! He was with me when I went in years ago and had the binding dropped, which enabled me to finally get my own much prized Thunderfury. Here is a link to the classic ‘Vanilla” legendary weapon Thunderfury to give you a better idea of all that is involved with acquiring it in game.

I still recall the first time I ever saw it in game. I was level 60 and in Warsong Gulch. I saw this Alliance Paladin wielding what looked like a one handed surf board that had electrical currents shooting out of it. I remember typing in guild chat at the time just that description and asking if anyone know what the heck that was. One guild responded back with a “OMG…that is THUNDERFURY!!!!” I knew I was in a world of hurt then and sure enough two hits later I was taking a dirt nap.

Well, after that experience, I wanted to get my hands on one of those bad boys as well, though it would literally be years before I could weird my own. The raid guild I was in had a very specific policy in regards to who obtained Thunderfury. The two bindings would go to the Warrior class lead, which I was not. Eventually, the 40 man raid group had both bindings drop and they went to that particular Warrior. Being that I was an officer as well as the secondary Warrior class lead, I was next in line for them, so I was really thrilled as you can imagine. Of course raid guilds being what they are fell apart due to internal arguments, conflicts, backstabbing and all around drama. So much for my hope to get Thunderfury. Oh, that warrior who had both bindings, I saw him in Outlands at one point in Shattrath at one point and he said how he deleted his bindings once the expansion came out and could care less about having Thunderfuy. If fists could go through computer screens he would have been knocked out then and there!

Well, the only way I was going to get my hands on my very own Thunderfury was to farm for it myself. Over the course of a year and a half I would go in with in game friends to help with getting the binding to drop. After a couple of years I finally was lucky enough to have both bindings. My friend Ava was there with me when the last one I needed dropped.  I told him that since he was helping me with obtaining my Thunderfury, that I would happily help him get his in return. We would go into Molten Core every week. After a year and a half, Ava was just going in solo.

Finally, after what had been just as long a time frame as it had taken me, he finally had the other binding which he needed drop. You can imagine how excited and ecstatic he was! So I made sure to get a screenshot of us together in game with are much prized Thunderfury equipped. I am on the right if you couldn’t already tell. So congrats to Ava on his Thunderfury! Just another story that confirms the truth, if you want something bad enough you can get it with hard work, time and a lot of patience!

(I am on the right if you could not tell :p)

New Class & Talent Tree: Farmer

With the new Mists of Pandaria expansion in the works, the devs at Blizzard HQ have been working feverishly with reworking the various classes talent trees and such. For those who are not “Old Skool”, you probably do not recall when there was the introduction of a new class in tot he game: The Farmer! Since it has been years since there was any mention of the Farmer class, I thought it would be good fun to go back and check out the class, as well as the talent tree. My personal favorite portion of the Farmer talent tree is that of “Grind”, though “Auction” and ” Ninja” are pretty awesome in their own right! Without further ado, I present the “Old Skool” Farmer Class and Talent Tree:

(The pic has nothing to do with Farmer Class…it is just a cool pic I like!)

Insane In The Membrane

Let me begin by recommending to the readers that the best way in which to read this post is while listening to Cypress Hill “Insane In The Membrane” ! It is not only a classic, but also the most appropriate song with which I can think of dealing with todays blog post.

After years of rep grinding, I finally attained the ever elusive title of WoW titles, that of “The Insane!” For those who are unfamiliar that such a title/achievement, WoWhead has some basic information on it which I recommend reading as a good source material on the achievement, as well as a means to obtain the title and achievement if one so desires. It is definitely a very cool feeling knowing that I finally knocked out one of my long term goals in WoW.

So what do you say? Think you have it in you to become Insane in the Membrane as well?

How Best to Get Around Azeroth

One of the most significant aspects of the game which is not often addressed is the impact that traveling has upon the player. Time is money as the old goblin saying goes, which is quite a profound realization when one takes into consideration how much players traverse through the world to get to a certain point of interest. There are actually quiet a lot of clever and handy items and methods available  to players to help get around in a quick and efficient manner.

A great article that dives into this particular facet was posted on WoW Insider a couple of days ago written by Allison Robert. It is entitled “Potion, Portals, and Scrolls of Recall: How to get around Azeroth as quickly as possible” . It is a great read, one which I am sure will be quite helpful and insightful as to how to better “get around” our most beloved virtual world of Azeroth. Adventure awaits my friends…now you have at your disposal the knowledge on how best to get to where you want to go!

I’m Salty!!!!

Finally!!!!

After years and I do indeed mean years, I finally won one of the fishing contests! With that accomplishment, I was not only award the Master Angler of Azeroth, which means I was the winner of the fishing contest, but with that I was able to complete the Meta achievement of Accomplished Angler, which is the completion all of the various fishing achievements which award the awesome title “Salty”! This is no small feat let me tell you!

As I mentioned, I have been trying for this achievement of winning the contest literally for years. A few months ago, I actually had victory within my graph only to be “robbed” of the sweet smell (raw fish) of victory when I looted the Blacktip Shark. It took a moment for me to realize that I had in fact fished up the ever elusive fishy! I clicked on my Etched Ring of the Kirin Tor, which ported me back to the inn where by I flew to Elder Clearwater to turn it in. The sole obstacle to completing the quest was that my loading screen was taking forever to load! I definitely need a faster computer. All the while I was saying the mantra of every raider, “go go go go go go go”! The load screen finally had me at the inn, where by I jumped on my flying mount and raced to turn it on, clicking on the quest to complete only to have another player click it a second before me which allowed him to snatch certain victory from me! I was crushed to say the least!

But fear not!

This story has a happy ending (especially since I already mentioned that I won)! Last Saturday, after a few guilds mentioned that they were going to try the contest, I thought to myself why not make another go at it. the sting of defeat was gone at this point. So I flew to Northrend and started to fish when the contest began. Time passed and with each minute going by I was thinking that my chances of fishing of the Blacktip Shark was lessing. It really is the luck of the draw so to speak. With resolve, I pressed on with my flick of the mouse, virtually casting my fishing pole into the swirling waters of the Pygmy Suckerfish pools. When all of a sudden there it was! The Blacktip Shark was within my bag again for the second time!

My mind raced and my hands shook with adrenaline! Clicking my magical transportation ring, the dreaded loading screen appeared. Fortunately, this time it did not take as long for the game to load into Dalaran, for I made sure that all other programers where not running on my computer! With my right hand shaking uncontrollably due to the adrenaline coursing through my body, I flew to kindly old Tuskar, only to click on the wrong person! Oh no! If i lost this fishing conquest again because I had inadvertently clicked on the wrong npc I would be completely abashed!

Quickly turning to Elder Clearwater, I clicked him without a moment to lose and then clicked upon the quest reward of the Boots of the Bay. With that I was declared the winner throughout the region! My hands were still shaking. What was really cool was receiving tells form the other Horde players who were also attempting to win the contest congratulating me. Now that is true sportsmanship! So what is the moral of this shark of a tale? To never give up and to keep making a go of it, for one day you just may find yourself the winner!

The Shakes

One thing that I noticed not too long ago is that I started to have the “Shakes” under certain situations, such as when I would use my hearthstone and hearth into the inn or better yet, when I would fly! While flying on any of my flying mounts, about every ten to fifteen seconds, I would start to ‘Shake” like I was having withdrawals! I contacted a GM about this possible “bug” I found and the kind GM advice was to remove all add-ons, toss the WFT file and empty the Cache. I did all of those things to no avail. Then I was talking with a buddy in Vent and mentioned how the Haunted Memento now will cause a player the “fear” emote. I was like Eureka! So that is what has been causing my “shakes”! So if you see me in game and I am shaking and baking, it is not from withdrawals of hitting the Thunder Bluff peace pipe too often, it is just the little friendly ghost who is haunting me in game.
